In the Fourth Division it looks likely that Cody D will finish bottom of the table but some individual performances have been outstanding with the efforts of Vic King in a 7-3 reverse against Tennis J particularly praiseworthy. He secured a maximum against some experienced opponents, Ian Brown, John Page and John Davis who all bagged braces. It is also very clear at the top of the table where the honours are going. Crawley Ridge D notched up their fifth successive whitewash, against Tennis K, thanks to Eric Wong, Yeuk Wan and David Marchant. Braybrooke B are trying to keep in touch winning 8-2 against Frimley F. Alan Burkey was unbeaten for Braybrooke with Kenny Duarte and Sandra Jackson supporting with duos but both lost to Frimley’s Charles Rhodes. Ash G leapfrogged the club’s F team with a 7-3 victory. Sheila Pretty, Bob Murrell and Janet Guess all won twice with the star performer of the evening being the F team’s Graham Thomas who secured all the points for his side. Cody C edged past Fleet C 6-4 with Dave Hewitt undefeated for Cody. Alan Yeung and Roy Chittenden each won a couple for Fleet.
There were three postponements in the Second Division but there was a critical match in the relegation zone where Cody X beat Braybrooke A 7-3. Peter Anthony and Duncan Sibbick were both unbeaten for Cody. Ash C and Crawley Ridge A shared the points with Nigel Tustin chalking up another maximum for Ash. Dennis Smith won twice for Crawley Ridge.
In the First Division Ash B recorded a welcome success over a two-man Ash A team. Hudson Foley won the two singles he played with Dave Gilham winning a couple for the A team. Central B maintained the pressure at the top with a 7-3 victory over Tennis B. Trevor Spraggs won all three for Central whilst Martin Townshend and Andy Appleby supported with duos both losing to Tennis’ Eliot Tilley. Fleet A picked up a victory, 8-2, against Frimley A. Lawrence Dack won all three whilst Fallon Thompson and David Joyce supported with pairs.
Another week of tight results in the Third Division. Crawley Ridge C and Ash E shared the points with Crawley Ridge’s Yuriy Schulzhenko winning all three for and team-mate Richard Hornby winning a couple as did Ash’s Terry French. Tennis H and Cody B also split the points. John Harvey secured a full house for Cody whilst Tushar Vaja and Charles Burton each won twice for Tennis. Tennis G eased past Crawley Ridge B 6-4 with Tennis’ John Sheehy notching a maximum. David Marchant won a couple for Crawley Ridge.
