The Handicap Cup produced another thrilling encounter when Tennis G just eased past Frimley C. With a match score of 6-6 Tennis won by three points on countback. Vasco Correira won all his singles for Frimley with Peter Bone and Merhdad Abutalebi winning two singles apiece for Tennis. Tennis H had a more comfortable win over their D team, 9-3. Roger Whichelow was unbeaten in both singles and doubles for the H team with Michael Wolfe only losing one singles. Pu Zhang won a couple of times for the D team
In the First Division Cup Ash A moved into the semi-finals with a 7-2 victory over Frimley A. Dave Gilham and Dave Halfpenny were both undefeated for Ash. In the other remaining quarter final Tennis A and Tennis B fought produced a very tight match with the A team prevailing 5-4 thanks to a full house from Eliot Tilley. Michael Kwan and Paul Shakespeare both bagged braces for the B team.
In the Second Division Cup Frimley B proved far too strong in their quarter-final match against Cody A. Clive Welsman was unbeaten for Frimley whilst John Eade also won twice. Ash C moved into the final at the expense of Cody B, 5-2. Frank Winnard was unbeaten.
In the Third Division Cup Ash E surprised Crawley Ridge B with a 5-4 victory in the quarter-final. The star performer was Crawley Ridge’s Dave Skellern who was unbeaten but braces from Terry French and Les Knight plus a single victory for Dave Brown eased Ash through. Tennis G reached the Final with a comfortable 6-3 defeat of Fleet B. Peter Bone notched a maximum whilst Martin Evans supported with a pair. Rob Brook won twice for Fleet.
In the Fourth Division Cup Crawley Ridge C moved into the final after a 7-2 victory over Tennis H. Richard Hornby won all three for Crawley Ridge with colleagues Mark Stephenson and Yuriy Schulzhenko supporting with braces but both were beaten by Tennis’ Michael Wolfe.
