Congratulations to Frimley C who have picked up the Third Division title after beating nearest rivals, Tennis F, 7-3. Peter Farrelly and Bob Walker were both unbeaten for Frimley. Cody C, in third place, could only draw against lowly Ash D. John Harvey notched a trio and Jock Docherty bagged a brace in support. Hugh McKee won a couple for Ash. Tennis G beat two person Ash E 7-3 with all the Tennis players, Ian Brown, Ray Eason and Andrew Blunden winning one and losing one. Tom Gordon secured a duo for Ash. Cody D beat Ash F 7-3 with Dean Hewitt winning all three including the scalp of Karim Lawji who won his other two for Ash. Bob Fenner supported Hewitt with a couple. Frimley D beat Crawley Ridge A 6-4 with Frimley’s Anthony Connelly unbeaten and colleague James Maxwell winning a couple. This was matched by the Camberley outfit’s Russell Gibbs.
Tennis D are edging away at the top of the Second Division after a draw with Broadmoor A and a 6-4 defeat of Ash C. Michael Kwan was unbeaten in the two matches with David Jarvis winning a couple against Ash. Frank Winnard replied for Ash with two wins himself. In the Broadmoor match both Tony Gabriel and Keith Jones won a couple for Broadmoor. Cody B beat Fleet A 7-3 to put themselves firmly back in the promotion race. David Joyce won all the points for Fleet with the Cody trio of Dario Cereda, Paul Mission and Dave Stenning each winning twice. Tennis E are now definitely relegated after suffering a whitewash at the hands of Old Woking. Steve Cheek, Gordon Aplin and Bill Matlock inflicted the damage. Frimley B helped their relegation battle with a 7-3 success over Broadmoor B. Hudson Foley was undefeated for Frimley with Vasco Corrira supporting with a duo. Robert Hawes won twice for Broadmoor.
In the First Division Central B maintained the pressure at the top with a 9-1 victory over Ash A. Dave Phelps and Martin Townshend each won their three and Andy Appleby won a couple. Tennis B beat Ash B who appear to be doomed to relegation. Paul Myers and Rob Gladstone both won three apiece and George Earle supported with a pair. Central A beat Tennis C 7-3 with Phil Snelson once again notching a trio. Team mates Dennis Perrett and Peter Millard won twice but both lost to Tennis’ Graham Diplock. Tennis A and Cody A shared the points with Cody’s Sean Pickin unbeaten. Eliot Tilley and Rod Kay won a couple each for Tennis.
The stand out result in the Fourth Division was Frimley E’s 6-4 victory over second placed Crawley Ridge B. Both Stephen Bridle and James Maxwell were unbeaten for Frimley. Leaders Cody E beat Tennis H 6-4. Nigel Roberts won three for Cody with team mate Alan Richards winning a couple. This was matched by John Page for Tennis. Ash G beat Cody F 7-3 with Bob Murrell and Ray Mears both recording maximums. Ash J and K shared the points. Stuart Wickham won all three for the K team.
