There were large wins for the top four in the First Division. Central B beat Tennis C 9-1 with Andy Appleby and Dave Phelps unbeaten and Robin Pretty winning a couple. Tennis A whitewashed Frimley A with Eliot Tilley, Kevin Bown and Rod Kay picking up the points. Bentley A beat Ash A 9-1 with Micky Lang and Andy Mudie winning all three and Steve French bagging a brace. Central A beat Cody A 8-2. Phil Snelson secured a maximum whilst colleagues Ramesh Bhalla and Dennis Perrett both won twice but each lost to Cody’s Patrick Garlick. Tennis B completed the results in the top flight with a 9-1 victory over Ash B. Paul Myers and Paul Massey both notched trios whilst team-mate Simon Turner won a couple.
In the Second Division Old Woking moved up the table with a 7-3 victory over Tennis E and an 8-2 success over a two-man Ash C team. Across the two games Steve Cheek was unbeaten with Bill Matlock only losing once. George Carder won a couple for Tennis E. Cody B overcame Tennis E 7-3 with Paul Mission notching a trio. Dave Stenning and Duncan Sibbick each won twice for Cody but both lost to Tennis’ Carder. Two of the promotion contenders, Tennis D and Bentley B, met with Tennis easing through 6-4. All players managed a win but it was Tennis’ Dave Jarvis, with a maximum, that proved critical. Phil Hales won twice for Bentley.
The Third Division leaders, Frimley C whitewashed Cody D with Peter Farrelly, Bob Walker and Derek Seager bagging the points. Tennis F remain in second spot after overcoming Ash E 7-3. All the Tennis side, Peter Killick, Darren Brown and Paul Jarvis won twice. Crawley Ridge A also won 7-3 this against Cody C. Ken Thompson picked up a maximum for Crawley Ridge with team-mates Corin Moore and Russell Gibbs each winning twice but both lost to Cody’s David Thomas. Ash F and D shared the points with the F team’s Karim Lawji recording a trio. Hugh McKee and Stauart Wickham each won twice for the D team.
Cody E, in the Fourth Division, eased past Ash H 6-4. Alan Richards won all three for Cody with Kim Phillips winning a couple in support. Brian Lunn won twice for Ash. Crawley Ridge B beat Ash J 8-2 with Peter Greenwood-Sleep and Richard Pape each unbeaten. Fleet B and Tennis H split the points with Fleet’s Rob Brook unbeaten. John Page and Keith Johnson each won twice for Tennis. Broadmoor C easily beat Ash K 8-2. Gabriel Ailiaoe was unbeaten for Broadmoor with colleagues Malcolm Codd and Len Goodman each winning a couple both losing to Ash’s Dave Brown. Cody F proved too strong for Frimley E winning 7-3. Both John Sheehy and Phil Russell recorded maximums.
In the First Division Cup Tennis A beat Frimley A 5-1 with both Paul Massey and Rod Kay unbeaten.
