Table Tennis by Paul Myers The 2007-2008 Aldershot and District Table Tennis Season is now up and running. Cody A relegated from Division One last season have made the perfect start with three straight victories to go top of Division Two. The best of them was a 10-0 drubbing of Ash E with Paul Mission, John Harvey and Peter Anthony all unbeaten. Ash E themselves beat Bourne A 6-4 with Jeff Brawn grabbing a hat-trick. Bourne A have also registered a win against Tennis D with Mike Gunton the hat-trick man. Tennis due to having played more games than the chasing pack are in second place with two losses and a win to their name. They beat a struggling Ash F 9-1 with Neil Print and Andy Murdock bagging trebles. Tennis C in third place have twelve points from two games with Dave Jarvis winning six out of six. In the top division Challoner have started well winning their first three matches. Maria Taylor-Woodward and Crispin Knight were the main point’s scorers bagging a couple of hat-tricks each. In second place and runners up last season are Central A with two good wins against Ash A and club mates Central C, but they also suffered a surprise 7-3 loss to Tennis A who had themselves only managed two points in their previous two matches. Phil Prady was man of the match winning all three for the tennis men. In third place are Central B with victories against Ash B and Frimley A. David Lloyd having made a recovery from injury was unbeaten in both matches with Graham Watts (three out of three) and Peter Millard (four out of six) backing him up. Reigning Champions Shackleford do not have the same squad who won the title last year and they will struggle to retain the title on early evidence. Shackleford won their first two matches 6-4 and also lost by the same margin against Challoner with Dennis Perrett the star grabbing a couple of trebles. Ash C and Frimley A who were first and second respectively in Division Two last season are both without a win so far this season in the top flight and they could struggle without the fire power of the teams at the top. In Division Three, Tennis F have made a great start and are top after three matches with wins against Ash H, Broadmoor and Kingfisher A. Brown, Wale and Mills were all in top form for Tennis. Bourne B runaway winners of Division Four last season will not have it all their own way this time around but even so have made a pleasing start with one win and two draws. Their win came against Ash H 8-2 with Andy Barnard grabbing a treble. Cody D with two wins set the pace in Division Four after having been relegated last season. They beat Fleet CC B and Fleet CC C 8-2 and 9-1 respectively with trebles from Stenning, Russell, Asprey and Williams. Ash K who finished third last season have made a good start winning 7-3 against Tennis H and their main man Dave Phillips was in treble form once again. Tennis H improved from their first match with an 8-2 win against Cody E with Stearnes and Jarvis both bagging hat-tricks.
