In Division 3 of the Aldershot & District Table Tennis league Andy Cunningham (3) had a bizarre 11-1 in the fifth win over Gordon Courtney and Bentley B won another three matches in the final end to eventually run out 8-2 victors, Bob Walker also carded a hard earned hat trick. Sandy Simpson won two for Ash F but Frimley D went marching on, running out comfortable 8-2 winners, Robeen Roopun proving unbeateable on the night. Eliot Tilley racked up another three, not dropping an end into the bargain, as Tennis F overcame Cody C 7-3. Frimley E were thankful to David Mackinnon's three straightforward wins as they and their C team shared the spoils. Andy Stenning finished off all of his matches 11-7 in the fourth but his three wins were not enough as Cody D went down to a 6-4 loss at home to Tennis G. Geoff and Nick Green both claimed maximums as Farnham Cohesion A romped to a 9-1 thrashing of Ash E.
Graham Dickson did the business for Tennis B in Division 1, winning a treble as they notched a hard fought 7-3 win over Cody A. A hat trick from Graham Watts did the job for Ash A who edged a tough encounter 6-4 over Frimley A. Tim Ngyou won the closest contest of the night,11-9 in the fifth against Scott Ayers.
Nigel Tustin (3) sneaked past Dario Cereda 15-13 in the fifth on his way to three wins for Ash D against Cody B in Division 2. Frank Winnard backed him up with two of his own as Ash edged it 6-4. An impressive win for John Wheeler, I know it was impressive as I was watching from the other table, over form man Martin Gilbey was the only joy for Frimley B as they were stuffed 9-1 at home to Ash D, Mike Levey and Alan Gess claimed three's for the victors. Mark Armstrong, Norma Millward and Dick Deacon all stepped up to the mark with two wins each to see Broadmoor B to a vital 7-3 win over relegation rivals Tennis E.
Michael Fox had three excellent wins but this was the only joy for Frimley F as Ash G powered to a 7-3 win in Division 4. It was a coming together of the ages that saw Ash J beat Ash H 6-4 as teenager George Carder and, a touch older, Brian Lunn both clocked up a couple each to battle past Dave Phillips' three for the H team. James Hodges (3) beat John Allen in the decider to see his Cody F to a 6-4 triumph at Fleet CC C. Cody E and Fleet CC B played out a 5-5 draw, Jeremy Fox only dropped one end on his way to a treble for Fleet. Graham Dorey (2) edged John Atkinson 14-12 in the deciding rubber as Tennis J breezed over Farnham Cohesion B 9-1, Mike Bly and Keith Johnson each won all three.
