A 10-0 drubbing of Frimley A and an 8-2 win over Ash A were enough to see Bentley A take a stranglehold of Division 1 of the Aldershot & District TableTennis League.
Andy Mudie was unbeaten in this double but the fans were left wanting more after Ash's Graham Watts had to leave early thus denying them a potentially classic match, maybe next half. Steve French proved he's back on form with five out of six for Bentley. Frimley A quickly recovered from this whitewash with one of their own, Clive Asprey, Andrew Davies and Tim Ngyou all proving too good for Tennis B.
Two man Tennis E were no match for Old Woking going down 9-1 in Division 2, Bill Matlock and the free hitting Gordon Aplin both finished unbeaten. Ash C taught their D team a lesson, racing to a 10-0 win, Martin Gilbey, Alan Gess and Mike Levey doing the damage. All three of Tennis C won a match in the fifth end but this resilience wasn't enough to stop Sameer Pathak who's trio of wins took Fleet CC A to a well earned 7-3 win. Andy Murdock (2) claimed the final match of the evening as his Tennis D drew five all at home to Broadmoor B, Mark Armstrong and Mike Rumbold both winning a couple each for the visitors.
In Division 3 Tennis F were glad of Eliot Tilley's fine triple which helped them to a five all draw with their H team for whom it was a busy week as Gordon Courtney and Bob Brown won all three in their 7-3 victory over Cody D, a score matched by Cody C who got the better of Frimley E. David Mackinnon pocketed all of Frimley's points but David Thomas (2), Dave Hewitt (2) and Tony McDowell (2) saw Cody home. A Graham Marshall hat trick helped Tennis G edge Ash F 6-4, Ash's Sheila Pretty producing the comeback of the night against Derek Read however, storming back from two ends down to win the last three 6,9 and 2. Form man Les Knight won his three again but this wasn't enough as Ash E were beaten 6-4 by a consistent Frimley C. The 9-1 scoreline didn't reflect a tight match at Cody D, half of the matches went to five but the home side were undone by Nick Green and Chris Saville's hard fought trio's for Farnham Cohesion A.
Fleet CC B were the big winners in Division 4, Jeremy Fox and Andrew Blunden were unbeaten as they routed their C team 10-0 and eased past Frimley F 8-2. Cody E and Tennis J were not too far behind both recording 9-1 victories. John Davis and Mike Bly won all three as Tennis blew away Cody F, a feat matched by Norrie Short and Bob Fenner for Cody E against Farnham Cohesion B. Tennis J also racked up an 8-2 win at Fleet CC C, Keith Johnson and John Page twisting the knife this time with three each. Dave Phillips with six out of six was also on top form as his Ash H won a tight scrap with Cody F 6-4 before a more comfortable win over Ash K, 8-2. Ash J came from 3-2 down to finish 6-4 victors over Fleet CC C, George Carder's three inspiring the comeback.
